Wedding Bells

Today I attended the beautiful wedding of a lovely young couple from our church. My husband was the minister who married them, and as I sat and listened and watched this young couple committing their lives to each other, I was reminded of our wedding day as a very young couple 12 years ago.

Thinking back now, there were quite a few friends who thought we were crazy committing to marry each other while so young... "why don't you live together for a while?" was one of the common questions asked. To these friends, unconditional commitment and love was quite a foreign concept, and still is today.

I love this portion of the message today that Symon shared...

"In our culture, unconditional love has always been unpopular, and conditional love has become the norm. Many people have abandoned their minds and consciences and live according to their feelings. The question people ask is not: “Is it right?” But, “Does it feel good?” During both the joys and sorrows of your marriage, the key issue is your commitment to each other, not your feelings or personal satisfaction."

The Bible speaks quite a bit of our love for each other in marriage being similar to Jesus' love for us... unconditional no matter what. Isn't that awesome... no matter what we do or say, no matter what mistakes we have made or make... He loves us unconditionally, and is way more committed to us than anyone else.
