For some strange reason I love mustard yellow yarn (maybe it's Dee's influence thanks to her famous mustard tights?).
Almost exactly a year ago I made these cute mustard yellow crochet coasters using the awesome pattern that Stacey had discovered. I decided to try a different pattern (the one I used here) with the amazing mustard yarn this time and I do like! Maybe not as much as Stacey's... but they're still pretty cute.
Crochet = Therapy
Over the last couple of weeks, there has been a wee bit more crochet going on than usual.
It seems to be a common pattern when difficult times come... and funnily enough the same thing happened here.
So, another set of crochet coasters have been made, this time in burnt orange. My last lovely set of cream coasters have strangely enough, disappeared from the lounge. I have a sneaky suspicion that a certain someone has hidden them... a certain someone with a strong aversion to crochet coasters (yet, strangely enough a recent love for pink yarn and granny square blankets!).
So now these lovely orange ones will take their place proudly in the lounge... and yes, some may think they are rather ugly, but I prefer to think of them as retro... cause that's the word I use to zhuzh up ugly stuff.
Yep, they are pretty retro alright.

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something that you can be thankful for... no matter how simple it is.

Really loving finding black and white jelly beans. I think they are in celebration of the All Blacks, but they are also my two favourite jelly bean flavours!!
Loving thoughtful surprises from an amazing sis-in-law (thanks Shells xoxo)...
Loving mixing up delicious desserts...
Loved realising that last Tuesday was the 1 year anniversary since Boo arrived!! We love her to bits and seriously think she is the best dog ever (even though she is a wee bit chubby and needs steroids for her grass allergy). My favourite post about Boo would have to be this one. Still cracks me up!!
Loving cute coin purses...
Loving making a few more mustard crochet coasters...
There have been a lot of moustache shenanigans around blogland lately. I'm not sure who's to blame... but it could be something to do with these super awesome mustaches Tracy gave me (yes, I'm totally blaming you Tracy). Check out the funny video response (to our bloggy girls video) that the Aussie bloggers made here.

After nearly going insane trying to join up the trillions of tiny granny squares for this, I decided I needed some crochet therapy in the car the other day.
A while ago I spotted some really cute crochet coasters via the lovely Stacey at blogs tea & me and found the original pattern (thanks to her) here. I love them and really enjoyed making them!
Do you remember my saga with Symon's opinions about crochet coasters? Well, I dared to ask him what he thought of my recent creations. As I dangled one of the coasters in front of him while he was driving the car, he said (with carefully chosen words), "I love that you love it."
Ha ha! Now wasn't that nice of him? A very safe answer (one that all men married to craft nerds should learn).
I do love them (and him).

Wow - what an amazing group of posts you all linked up last week! Looking forward to checking out all the things you are loving this week.

Here are a few of the things that I'm loving at the moment...
The current obsession our kids have with jumping rope on the deck - it brings back so many old memories of skipping at school as a child, and the funny songs we used to sing...
Making more of these babies... I know, I know - don't even mention the word granny!
A very thoughtful gift from a special lady who knows about my love for Russian dolls...
My family (one of our outtakes from this day). We have had a few minor ups and downs lately... and I love them even more through it all...
Cute drawings from little Miss 3 (nearly 4). I'm loving those bunny slippers, giant pink lips and long lashes!
Lastly, giving - one thing I love more than almost anything. If you'd love to enter my softie giveaway, go here!

Okay - I've gone and done it. I think I've turned 'un-cool' on you all.
A few weeks ago I saw these sweet crochet coasters here and decided I'd love to make some myself. They are fun to make, and look really cute... or so I thought.
Today I proudly showed Symon my creations, and a horrified look came over his face. "They're doilies" he exclaimed with fear in his eyes.
It was at that exact moment that I realised I've crossed the line... I have turned into a total Granny (no offence to the grandparents reading this).
So, I think I'll still use them (in private), and I've popped the red ones in the shop for any older people out there who need something to catch the tea and coffee cup drips.
*Gulp*
