In the past I've always whipped up a crochet cover for my phones (like this) but with my recent obsession of making cushion covers out of recycled blankets, I just had a whip up a little cover for my phone.
Anyone can make one of these if they have fabric and a sewing machine or needle and thread. Lining it with felt means that your phone doesn't slip out too easily.
Here's to keeping your phone safe and cozy and also recycling while you craft!
Do you like my new mobile phone cover?
The other one died (well, the moustache fell off it) and because I've been in such a frenzy trying to finished the birthday blanket (aka, "The Blanket of Torture"), I couldn't think of anything new or fun to put on my new cover, so I decided to do another moustache...
Or maybe I could pretend that this time I went with a mono brow...

This last week has seen a flurry of making... you see, it's the school holidays here, which means there's a wee bit more mess and stress around here at the moment... which also means that I often have an earnest desire to sneak off and make or bake something. Strange I know - but it seems to keep me sane (so far anyway).
There has been the creation of another two fluffy bunny softies. Although I long to make more crazy softies like Yeti's, Robots, Mustached cupcakes and other unusual things, these wee guys are always a hit and rather quick and fun to whip up.
There has also been two phone covers, crocheted for my lovely Mum-in-law's new mobile phone...
And lastly, I have been inspired and started on a very cute project using these. Can't wait to show you!
p.s. oh yeah, and I'm still making thousands of granny squares for this.

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something that you can be thankful for... no matter how simple it is.
Without sharing too much information, last week and this week have had their ups and downs. I seriously didn't feel at all like posting last week, but I forced myself and guess what - if was so good to find things to be grateful and thankful for. So here we go again!
Here are a few of the things I am loving at the moment...
Gluten free Fudge Brownies (although - I still think the original recipe is better)...
Our stunningly beautiful native New Zealand bush...
The fact that Symon loves this ghastly phone cover I crocheted on request (should make him a matching one of these to go with it!)...
How cute Barney is when he's sleeping...
Happy biscuits...
Winning this very cool vintage locket from a giveaway on RiceBabies...
Girls who dig machinery...
And Juggling Motherhood's tips for around the home... recognise those sweet boys at the washing line? Hehe.
See, that wasn't so hard for me to find something to be thankful for... now it's your turn!
Here's how you can join in....

I have a knight in shining armour for a husband... the kind
of guy who will lay down his coat to cover a puddle you’re about to walk on,
except in my case this guy is the type who gives me his snazzy, new mobile phone to keep as my old one dies a slow and painful death,
only to go and buy himself the cheapest and nastiest phone on the market.
Crazy? Crazy lovely I'd say!
His excuse – “I want to live a more simplified life”...
which translated into woman speak says = “I never quite understood the flash fandangled
contraptions that this phone has and never bothered to read the instructions either”.
Anyway, I know for sure that my outrageous display of love
last week had something to do with his generous act... you never quite know what a string of crochet hearts will do
to a mans heart.
Oh – and check out the very cool pink crochet mustache phone cover I
whipped up for my new phone. I love
it!!!
Love you too honey – and thanks.

I am loving the Christmas holidays! To be honest, there have been quite a few moments where we would have loved to send our kids right back to school, but apart from those moments, some great memories have been made.
Surprisingly, there have also been a few 'makings' happening in amongst it all...
Two Christmas stockings for the boys (I made these for the girls two years ago). I found two very cheap felt stockings and made two cute gingerbread men from Twinkie's book to sew onto them and also added a felt letter for each of the guys names.
A few more amigurami cupcakes have been added to the shop...
and a black crochet phone cover for Symon's new (free) phone...
Four more sleeps until Christmas!

You may remember the phone sock, and then my first ever crochet phone cover... but alas, phone covers usually die after a while.
I felt the need to create a new one yesterday, and after seeing this gorgeous and very gaudy yellow wool, I was inspired. Team that with a bit of inspiration from my coffee cup sleeve, and I designed a new easy to slip on/off cover... which totally clashes with my pink phone.
I love it!

For those of you that have been asking... the shop has been re-opened!
Hopefully I will be making more of these cute little guys sometime soon. Until then, you can fight over Flora.

I was super happy this morning to see the latest post of the stunning FaerySarah (of BobbyRobin) in her new slouch beanie I made. So glad it looks fab on you Sarah! Sarah is also the genius behind kiwi mummy blogs and was interviewed recently (here) at Li'l Magoolie! I love her weekly creations and guest blogger Aunty Debra's posts as well.
