Things I'm Loving...

The last couple of weeks have had their ups and downs, but as I always say... there is always something to be thankful for!!

Here are a few of the things I'm loving at the moment...

Catching Miss 3 trying to convince Barney the cat to have a sip of her juice...

Reminiscing our fun family night, and looking forward to the next one!!

Yummy things (including some sweets sent over from this sweet lady in Canada)...

These really handy free printable lists!!

Having fun with the fancy settings on my new camera...

And of course I couldn't leave out the arrival of Boo now could I!!

Makings...

It's hard to get crafty around here when there is such a cute newbie in the family!

Here are a few of my recent makings...

Crochet Licorice Allsorts (inspired by Imaginary Wardrobe)...

Charcoal Slouch Beanie...

Purple crochet beanie with cream flower...

And I'm looking forward to making more of these soon.

Back to scratching Boo...

Boo!

Introducing Boo...

Some of you may remember the sad goodbyes last year to our Whippet pup, Narnia.  For various reasons we just couldn't keep her.  Thankfully we found a wonderful home with an amazing couple and their Whippet Marzipan (here).

We were recently offered Boo - a five year old retired Staffordshire Bull Terrier, show dog and pedigree breeding dog (proud mum of 3 beautiful litters of pups).  I grew up with a Staffy and love them to bits.

She is such a sweetie and we've adopted her and brought her home today!  Stay tuned...

I love you Mr Drake...

I just wanted to say how much I really really really appreciate this guy...

Apart from being a very patient model...

A super duper patient Dad...

who often gets stuff spilled on him

and who sometimes I can tell would rather be taking a nap

And tonnes of other amazing things... he is the most forgiving and thoughtful husband, especially when this picture pretty much sums up how complicated I can be at times...

Thanks for putting up with me honey...

I love you tonnes and tonnes!

Bright Makings

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments about the Granny Stripe Blanket and our crazy family night (The Drake Fighters).  We did have heaps of fun with our family night and already have another one planned for sometime soon.

My back is slightly better (but still rather sore), so here are some pics of past makings to brighten up my day and yours...

Granny Stripe Blanket FINISHED!!!

My Granny Stripe blanket is finished!!

Normally a blanket like this would take me ages to complete (the Giant Granny Square blanket took around 8 months!) but thanks to putting my back out after all of those "Crochet Menace high kicks" the other night, this one has only ended up taking a few weeks (started here).

Yes, I think my days of being in the family gang are rather limited, my body not having the flexibility it used to...

Anyway... a big thank you to Lucy from Attic24 for her granny stripe inspiration and edging.  Out of all the crochet queens online, her instructions are by far the easiest to follow!

And the biggest thank you to my amazing hubby for cooking dinner for the last two nights, bringing me home painkillers, chocolate, a magazine, praying for my back, hanging out the washing and putting up with having a granny wife who is living in her fluffy slippers and granny stripe blankey on the couch (while also somehow handling four wild children as well).

Love you babe!

The Drake Fighters...

With Symon being out most nights the last week, our family was in desperate need of some quality time together. After discussing this, we decided another family fun night was due.  Later that day, each of us were handed a named envelope by Symon, with this inside...

You wouldn't believe how excited the kids were (and me realising that all I had to cook for tea was noodles!!). They've been planning their costumes and 'names' for the last couple of days - and tonight we had one of the best nights together that we've had in ages!!

So I present to you: The Drake Fighters

Name: She Fighter
Special Skills:  Super Sneaky

Name: Pink Panther
Special Skills: Speed & Super Scratch

Name: Black Ninja
Special Skills: Agility & Ninja Stars

Name: Red Panda
Special Skills: Strength & Fireball

Name: The Crochet Menace
Special Skills: High kick & crochet hooks (my Granny Neck Warmer actually came in handy!)

Name: Mandrake
Special Skills: Good looks & Big Guns (haha - he's so humble)

We had so much fun doing our photo shoot together, eating noodles while watching a dvd, wrestling, having a little prize giving ceremony and playing a computer game together.  Fun doesn't need to cost heaps or take too much effort - it's just about taking time out and doing something special together... and having a bit of fun at the same time!!

It's amazing how simple planned fun can be, and the memories are so worth it!
