Meet Mr Yeti Softie!

My husband is a bit of a Cryptozoology freak (proof here on his blog), so I decided to make him a super secret softie for his birthday.

Little did I know how much of a drama this Yeti would be to make.  I ran out of stuffing at the last minute and had to make a quick (but very secret) dash to the shops for more, constantly had trouble with the white fur going everywhere, broke my 3 last sewing machine needles and eventually had to hand sew him to finish it off. Amongst all that, I had a 'certain someone' knocking at my door asking what I was doing every 5 minutes.

  

So, I was really happy and relieved when he was finished, and if I may say so myself, he is such a cute softie (just as well after putting me through all that torture)! 

Thankfully Symon loves him and even said he was his best birthday present ever!

Now he's ordered a Big Foot for Christmas...

A lovely friend (the beautiful Lisa) brought these delicious creations along to one of our coffee groups recently and I fell in love with them!  I adore cheesecake, and the whole concept of mini baked cheesecakes with Oreo biscuits as the base had me drooling, and won me over straight away!

I decided to whip some up for Symon's birthday last Sunday, and they were so good (although mine don't look as fabulous as the ones in the original recipe).  Would love to try making them again with an uncooked cheesecake.

It's been party central at our place this last weekend with two birthdays only a couple of days apart. Tonnes of cake and birthday love has been shared, with only a few shenanigans here and there.

We don't do kid's birthday parties every year in our household, but this year was a 'party year' for our special big boy, so a couple of best buddies were invited over for a sleepover.


Symon was the coolest Dad ever when he surprised the boys by setting up a big screen projecter in their room for their video night (they had planned on all squishing around the laptop for their movies).  Heaps of fun was had - another marbled rainbow cake with cream cheese icing devoured, movies, junk food and a sneaky 'whipped cream on friend's face while sleeping' midnight joke.


Symon had an awesome birthday on Sunday too, including a very special sercret surprise softie from me... all will be revealed this week.  Let's just say he loved it and even said it was his best birthday present ever!


So, I'm officially over cake... sorry to our Queen (whose birthday is celebrated today), but I can't bear to celebrate another birthday for at least a few days (here's what we did last year).
