Ensuite Renovation!

By PaisleyJade - Tuesday, March 12, 2019

One year later (and a lot of dramas and money spent as well!) and I can finally declare our ensuite renovation officially finished! Yay!

We find it rather hard to fit in renovations on top of jobs and normal family life, but this reno was particularly hard. Even though this was the smallest space in our house, it took the most time due to random issues we discovered and went way over budget. So disappointing!

Early on we discovered that there had been a leak over several years behind the vanity and as a result most of the framing was rotten and needed to be replaced.

We had also considered painting over the wood paneling in this room, but because the house had been re-piled, the walls were damaged and needed replacing (re-gibbing and plastering). Symon had his first time gib stopping on this room and did an amazing job!

We also discovered we needed to put flooring down (we were hoping to use the original flooring), but love the final look.

Apart from the issues we faced with this room, it was a tiny space so we wanted to make sure we did the most we could to make it feel open and fresh. To achieve this we chose light colours, a glass shower so the room appeared bigger, and a floating vanity to create a sense of space.

We love this room and are so glad to have finished it! There were so many frustrating moments but we've learnt a lot along the way.  It's such a great space as it is an ensuite for our room, but can also be easily used as a guest toilet from our dining area if needed without people needing to go through our bedroom.

This is one space I'm glad to see the back of. Next area is our bedroom! Yay!

Are you ready for the before and afters???

We had one of those leaky plumbing turn into rotten frames things in the house next door. We had to totally gut it and start again. Know how you feel. You've done an amazing job on yours.
